EVERGREEN HAIRDRESSERS BECOMES LATEST MYNEWHAIR
SALON THAT CARES
A Wolverhampton based salon has joined a pioneering charity’s expanding network of Salons that Care.
Evergreen Hairdressers, which is based in Claregate, Wolverhampton, has become the latest addition to mynewhair’s 960 strong-network of hairdressers and 835 Salons that Care across the UK and Ireland.
The charity, mynewhair, was founded and inspired by professional stylist Trevor Sorbie MBE. mynewhair provides advice and support to anyone who has experienced medical hair loss, and has a national support network of independent salons and trained hair professionals who provide a wig-customisation service for their clients.
Evergreen Hairdressers put forward their Senior Stylist, Dawn Bonser, for mynewahir’s nurse-led training for hair professionals, and has now become part of the charity’s network of Salon that Care. As part of the salon’s work with the charity, Dawn, has pledged their commitment to training and provide a caring and sensitive service for their clients.
Jane James, Business Manager of Evergreen Hairdressers, said: “As a business we recognise the importance of offering a bespoke service to all our clients. Supporting them through good and bad hair days.
“Offering advice and guidance is something we already do and we feel that now having a member of staff Dawn qualified to help with hair loss, wig customisation, and wig after care compliments our hairdressing services. Raising awareness that support for hair loss is available through difficult times is very important to us.”
Dawn has completed the charity’s Level 1 and Level 2 training equipping her with specialist expertise across all areas of advice, wig-cutting and aftercare. As a new member of mynewhair’s Salons that Care network she joins hair professionals across all areas of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Dawn, from Evergreen Hairdressers, said: “I see a lot of fantastic clients who over the years have been affected by cancer. When they would ring up or drop me a note to say they hadn’t been in because they had lost their hair due undergoing chemotherapy treatment I just felt so useless.
“I went forward for the training with mynewhair because I wanted to be able to offer a service that could help my clients affected by medical hair loss. Both sets of training were great and provided me with exactly what I needed to allow the salon to offer a wig-customisation service and provide advice on wig aftercare. It was also a real confidence boost for me. The help and support provided on the course has allowed me to get started helping clients straight away.”
“I am proud to enable those going through cancer treatment to access the help and support they need locally. The difference that a styled wig can make is tremendous and I’m delighted to be able to help women regain their confidence and feel like themselves again.”
Trevor Sorbie MBE, founder of mynewhair, said: “We welcome Dawn from Evergreen Hairdressers to our ever-expanding network of UK-wide Salons that Care. We greatly value the work that all of our hair professionals do for people who suffer from medical hair loss – and we wouldn’t be able to do it without them!
“When we started the charity over 10 years ago, we had no idea that we would grow to an over 800-strong network of salons, but we have big ambitions for the future. We look forward to welcoming more salons to our network and helping more and more people to access our services.”
