THE MARVELLOUS HAIR COMPANY IS HELPING THOSE WITH MEDICAL HAIR LOSS REGAIN THEIR CONFIDENCE
A Goring on Thames based salon is supporting those affected by medical hair loss thanks to support from pioneering charity mynewhair.
The Marvellous Hair Company, which is based in Goring on Thames, South Oxfordshire, is a member of the charity’s 960 strong-network of hairdressers and 835 salons that care across the UK and Ireland.
The charity, mynewhair, was founded and inspired by professional stylist Trevor Sorbie MBE. mynewhair provides advice and support to anyone who has experienced medical hair loss. It also supports and trains a national network of independent salons and trained hair professionals, who provide a wig-customisation service for their clients.
The Marvellous Hair Company understands that the impact of losing your hair can be profound and the difference that a professionally cut and styled wig can make should not be underestimated. The Marvellous Hair Company’s wig-customisation service transforms an ‘obvious wig’ into an individual’s ‘new hair’ – helping those affected by medical hair loss regain their confidence.
As part of the salon’s work with the charity, The Marvellous Hair Company, has pledged their commitment to training and providing a caring and sensitive service for their clients.
Loz Hawkins, salon owner of The Marvellous Hair Company, said: “Being a mynewhair affiliated salon means we are fully trained in offering guidance and support to those suffering with medical hair loss, we are proud to be able to work with this wonderful organisation and to bring this service to our community.
“I provide advice regarding wigs including sourcing them, reviewing their suitability as well as providing a wig-customisation and fitting service. The wig consultation and fitting are both free of charge and I charge my usual haircutting fee for the cutting of the wig. As a salon we understand the tremendous affect hair loss can have both emotionally and financially and therefore want to support our clients the very best we can.
“For many people their hair is an important part of who they are and for those who experience hair loss it can be a traumatic time. I endeavour to make the process as simple as possible and try my upmost to get the best match for each induvial client.”
mynewhair founded the UK’s first national hairdressers training programme. The charity’s programme is nurse-led, providing specialist expertise across all areas of advice, wig cutting and aftercare. The Marvellous Hair Company has completed the charity’s Level two training and is dedicated to delivering a responsible service with respect and sensitivity for all clients.
